Paternity Establishment is Easy
In New Jersey, unmarried parents can establish legal paternity when
both parents sign
a Certificate of Parentage in the presence of a notary or authorized personnel. Information
must be typed into all blocks on the Certificate or legibly written in ink. Before
signing the Certificate, parents should read all the information on this website as
well as the information on the back of the form. Remember this is a legal document,
so if there are any doubts, get a genetic test before signing the form.
